Steps to a Green Mortgage
Below are the areas we have identified in which we cut waste, and have eliminated unnecessary use of our planet's precious resources:
- Elimination of the use of paper. The mortgage industry has notoriously used forests of paper. We have digitized our office and all documents are now kept electronically.
- Documents are transmitted electronically and not printed out. We only use lenders that allow us to send client loan files electronically. Many lenders still require a "physical" paper file be used when submitting a borrower file for final underwriting. We avoid using these lenders unless absolutely necessary.
- Avoid the need for clients to come to our office. With the use of fax and email technology, all documents required for the successful processing of a loan can be sent to us without the need to bring anything in.
- All office equipment is Energy Star Compliant. We have made a major investment in new technology. All of our computers, servers, monitors, and other office equipment meet the Energy Star standards.
- Reduced the use of artificial light in our offices. We have designed our offices to allow full use of natural light, thus eliminating the need for any artificial light.
